Why Choose A Pediatric Dentist?

We Focus On The Little Ones

What Is A Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist?

Our guess is that you take your children to a pediatrician, a doctor that specializes in working with infants, children and adolescents. So why not take your child to a dentist that specializes in working with the same population? Pediatric dentists undergo specialized training after completing dental school that readies them for the unique needs of a child. This is typically in a university or hospital setting, where a dentist like Dr. Stephie learns specific oral conditions that impact children, and how to treat them. They also specialize in prevention, growth and development, behavior management, and caring for the special needs population. Dr Stephie went through this this training and is a board-certified pediatric dentist, meaning she was certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) in providing exceptional care for children.

Not Your Average Dentist’s Office

Establishing A Dental Home For Your Child

At Little Giants, we are dedicated to providing safe, caring and high quality oral care. We understand how little people work, and that the dentist might be a little scary the first time around. We will follow your child’s lead and take things at a pace that feels comfortable for them. Before you know it, they will be asking when they get to come back next!

We want to get to know your child and your family, and for our office to feel like an extension of your home, and part of your community. At our office we encourage singing, playing, laughing and making healthy smiles something to be excited about!

Time To Get Excited!

What To Expect At Your Child’s First Visit

You can anticipate a warm welcome and tour of our office at your first appointment. We will make sure you’re comfortable and know where and how to access all of our office amenities. We will review any dental and medical history, take any necessary x-rays, and do a cleaning of your child's teeth. Dr. Stephie will meet with you and your child and go over your X-rays and/or do an exam. She can make treatment recommendations and answer any questions you or your little one has.

Our office follows the American Dental Association, which recommends coming to the dentist every 6 months for an exam and cleaning to keep teeth and gums in great condition. You can expect your first appointment to last 30 to 45 minutes.

Getting Ready

What To Bring To The Appointment

Here’s what you will need at your first appointment:

  • If you’re using insurance, bring your card. We can make a copy to keep on file so you only need to bring it once.
  • If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or blanket, bring it along for comfort. Maybe we can start by giving their lovie an exam if they’re a little wary!
  • New patient paperwork. This is available on your patient portal and can be done from home!
  • Questions! Bring any and all questions you may have about your children’s teeth and gum health. We’re here to be your resource!

How To Prepare Your Child For Their Dental Visit

You know your child best, but we thought it might be helpful to include some tips in preparation for their first visit to Little Giants!

  • Talk about their teeth and gums, and how great it is to keep them healthy so they can eat all of their favorite foods.
  • Use our site as a tool! Show them photos of our office and team so they know where they are going and who they are meeting.
  • Start talking about the dentist 5-7 days before their appointment. Explain where they are going, why, and what will happen when they arrive.
  • Tell your child we are so excited to meet them and become friends! The best part of our day is hearing about your children’s lives and their interests!
  • Tell your little ones they’re headed to the one and only singing dentist! That’s right! Dr. Stephie loves to sing songs and will even teach you some to sing while you brush and floss at home.
